Mental Beauty
You have heard it said that a person can be beautiful on the inside and out. This statement is very true. Being beautiful on the inside is almost more important than on the outside. This statement is also true. Let me explain. Your mental health is a vital part of thinking and being beautiful.

Have you ever met someone who was absolutely beautiful on the outside, but once you got to know them, their beauty was only skin deep? The reverse can be true as well.
There are several ways to ensure your mental health is where it should be.
1. Your physical health
We all know that our physical health is very important. Eating right, getting exercise, and sleeping well are all necessary components to staying healthy. If our body is not healthy, then our mind won't be either.
2. Reduce stress
This is easier said than done, isn't it? There are many ways a person can reduce stress. Yoga, going for a walk, or reading a book are a few strategies for relieving stress. Prayer is one of the best strategies to relieve stress. God cares about our stress level. He says in Philippians,
What a wonderful promise. But we have to take the initiative by praying.
3. Spend time outdoors
Sitting in the sun, feeling the breeze cause a whisp of hair to tickle your cheek, listening to the birds nearby sing a tune. Close your eyes. Can you picture it? Oh I can and it is relaxing just thinking about it. Nature has a way of calming a person, and all you have to do is sit and enjoy it. It is free! Even 5 minutes can melt your stress away.
4. Spend time with family or friends
Take some time with people you enjoy to be around and who lift you up. I work with the public and although 90% of the people I come in contact with are wonderful, there is always that small percentage of people who aren't. We don't know what has happened in their day or life to make them unpleasant, but no matter how hard I try, 1 person can ruin my whole day. But spending time with people who enjoy spending time with you makes life much more bearable on those hard days.
5. Take selfies
Yep. I said it. Take selfies. I can hear it now. Yuck, no way. I hate seeing myself in pictures. That is exactly why you should. On those days you can look in the mirror and like what you see, take a selfie. Find a window the lots of light and an angle you feel attractive and click away. You can delete as many as you want or keep as many as you want. These are just for you. This is not so you can become vain and stare at them all day. This is so you can remember when you saw yourself as beautiful. And it does help you feel better when you are staring down the lens of a camera.
This is one of my favorites.
6. Wear clothing that makes you feel great about yourself
Clothing has the power to change how you feel. You know what I mean. You have that outfit that you absolutely love because you feel, dare I say, pretty. Do some research to figure out your style personality and color season. Once you know these two elements you can shop within the guidelines for each and feel great in everything you wear.
7. Remember who God says you are

Lastly, but most importantly, remember what God says about you. If you don't know what he has to say about how awesome you are, than here are a few scriptures to start you out.
Isaiah 43:1 You are His!
Psalms 149:13 You were made perfectly
Matthew 10:29-31 You are worth so much
I hope that you will choose 1 or 2 of the suggestions I have listed and implement them into your life this week. You will notice a difference. I just know it. Check back for my next post as we continue this journey to true beauty.
